What should I bring on the trip?

We recommend you bring the following: water, sunglasses, bug spray, camera, hat, towels and suntan lotion. The spray bottle suntan lotion can be very slippery on the boat deck, so for safety reasons spray lotion can only be applied at the pier dock before you board or once you exit the ferry at Egmont Key. If you plan on exploring the island, you will need shoes due to the vegetation on the island. Please bring your own food and water. Water is also available on the boat. No outside alcohol is allowed on the boat. Beer and wine are available for purchase on the boat. Beer and wine purchased on the boat is only allowed on the boat and not allowed on Egmont Key. Plastic or cans only – no glass bottles on board, Thank you!

Are food and drinks available on the ferry for purchase?

You can bring your own food, and we have wine and beer available for purchase.

On Egmont Key, please discard all trash in the cans provided on the ferry. There are no trash receptacles on the island, so please bring back everything you brought. Wine and beer purchased on the boat is allowed on the boat but is not permitted on Egmont Key.

How long is the round trip?

Our Egmont Key excursion is 4 hours. The ride to Egmont Key is approximately 1 hour and you’ll have 2 hours to explore the pristine beaches, historic lighthouse, ruins of Ft. Dade, and the amazing wildlife before your return trip. You can find more information about Egmont Key here.

Sunset and Dolphin Cruises are approximately 2 hours.

Are restrooms on board?

There are two full-sized restrooms on the boat.

Where do I park?

The Sundial Parking Garage is within walking distance. There are other several parking garages near the St. Pete Pier. Click this link https://stpetepier.org/getting-here-parking for more information. Another great options is the FREE Downtown Looper Trolley.

Will I get wet?

On our Egmont Key Tours, we anchor in the water. All guests will exit and re-enter the boat using a ladder into the shallow water. See a video here.

What is your cancellation policy?

Customers will receive a full refund or credit with 24 hours notice of cancellation. Customers will also receive a full refund or credit in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Contact us by phone to cancel or inquire about a cancellation. No-shows will be charged the full price.

Does the boat make multiple stops?

The Pelican does not make any stops, including on the way from the dock to Egmont Key or from Egmont Key to the downtown St. Pete dock.

Is there snorkeling available?

Snorkeling masks and mouthpieces are available on a first-come basis and are complementary.

*Snorkeling depends upon water clarity, strong winds/currents, or predators/jellyfish.

We do not offer snorkeling on Saturday and Sunday during peak season, due to boat traffic concerns.

Is smoking allowed on the boat?

No smoking, please

Are children allowed on the boat?

Children are welcome on the Egmont Key Boat Tour and Dolphin Sightseeing Cruise. For the Egmont Key Boat Tour, if you're bringing children please be sure to bring any personal floatation devices they may need on the island.

Children are not permitted on the evening Sunset Cruise. (Adults 18+ only)

Are pets allowed on the boat?

Pets are not permitted. Only service animals are allowed on Egmont Key and the boat.

Is there live music on the boat?

Live music is periodically performed only on the Sunset Cruise.
